Professional development day for the staff, no school for the students.
Grade 7’s and their parents are invited to attend this very important informational evening about transitioning to a new school after leaving grade 7. You will hear from a high school teacher and one or more former JCS students who will share their experiences with you. You will receive information about registration, IEP meetings, transition meetings at the new school, interaction with the new school, and many other details. You will find this meeting extremely helpful and it will hopefully assuage some of your concerns with the prospect of such a big change. Don’t worry – Yes, You Can!
SOCIAL MEDIA AWARENESS/MANAGEMENT PRESENTATION
AT JAMES CAMERON SCHOOL – MAPLE RIDGE
THURSDAY EVENING, JANUARY 26TH, 2017 AT 7 PM
This parent presentation will focus on all things digital. Some of the topics to be discussed are cyberbullying, digital footprints, privacy, cyberexclusion, and much more.
This event is free and open to the public.
However, a donation to help fund this event would be greatly appreciated.
Valentine’s Day is “Caring and Sharing Day” at JCS, and there will be a potluck lunch for each homeroom.
You are invited to join the conversation on how to enhance academic and behavioural outcomes for children at risk for a specific learning disability (e.g. dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia).
Thursday, March 9, 2017, is a regular school day (8:15 am – 2:45 pm). Parent-Staff conferences will begin at 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
Sports Day today – the students and staff are divided into teams, and engage in friendly but loud activities to see who can earn the most points. One person from each team is selected to win a medal for Sportsmanship. The activities are held both indoors and outdoors, and traditionally is one of the most popular days of the school year.
