Our students work within the prescribed learning outcomes for their grade level as provided by the BC Ministry of Education. All core subject areas are taught with customized accommodations and adaptations made to meet individual learning needs. Children often come to us reluctant to ask for help, due to fear or embarrassment, but at James Cameron School class sizes are small and there is a great deal of individual support. Focus is shifted from ‘perfect’ spelling and grammar to a focus on real understanding, therefore empowering students to engage in learning.
Accommodations and adaptations may include:
Transferring skills
We recognize that our students are with us only for a few years. However, during their time with us, our goal is to prepare our students for school and life beyond our doors. We equip them with lifelong tools: study and organizational skills, self-advocacy skills, and the self-confidence and self-knowledge to continue learning and growing wherever life may take them.
