How it works

  • Each student is assigned a certified Orton-Gillingham therapeutic tutor
  • Students and tutors meets daily for 45-minute one-on-one sessions (the whole grade is scheduled for tutoring at the same time so that students are not pulled from class)
  • Daily sessions help build a relationship of trust and understanding between tutor and child
  • Lessons and materials are designed specifically for each child considering their current level of understanding
  • As the child advances, the tutor will move step by step from simple to more complex material to enable the child to master important literacy skills

Our approach provides continuous, positive feedback and helps students become competent readers, writers and independent learners. To learn more about the Orton-Gillingham Approach, click here.

Our Difference

Orton-Gillingham Approach

The Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching literacy skills was first developed in the 1930’s by Dr. Samuel Orton, a neurologist and Anna Gillingham, an educator. The comprehensive, multi-sensory approach has become one of the most successful methods to teach when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easy, specifically to those with dyslexia.
